I’ve started! The first day of official development was this Wednesday. Which will be the main development day for this year. The other days of the week are reserved for my freelance work. I still got to eat 😉 The evenings and Saturdays are also marked for working on the game. Up until now I’ve been working on the project almost daily. I feel very optimistic and energised to work on my first game.
The first thing on the agenda is to develop a prototype. The aim here is to test the core gameplay mechanics, which I have not defined yet. This first month will be a bit chaotic. It’s a big puzzle that slowly needs to come together.
I have a clear vision of the type of world I want to present to the player. The exact gameplay and overall tone of this particular game is still something I need to figure out. It will be quite challenging to bring all the specifics together. Many unanswered questions remain. Who is my protagonist? What does he look like? What does the world look like. What is the gameplay?!?!? With every day I keep updating my Game Design Document and getting a bit closer to a firm foundation for my game. Next week will be about, prototyping, completing the concept, and setting up the website and social accounts.
